The New York Rangers need a 2C in a bad way to progress further in the playoffs. But what if instead they get a dynamo right wing? They could try to get J.T. Miller who has a $5.25 million contract, but will want a fortune after that.

Another player who they have thought about acquiring is Patrick Kane. Of course, he already has a very huge $10.5 million contract through next season.

If the Blackhawks really want to move him, and he's okay with it, salary will need to be retained. At least half, which would put Kane's output the exact same price as Miller's.

So, Rangers fans, who would you prefer to have? Kane or Miller? They are both excellent players. Miller is younger at 29, while Kane will be 34 in November.

But. here's the intriguing thing that ties Kane to the Rangers. Artemi Panarin. They were former linemates who terrorized opposing goalies regularly. Can you just imagine Kane and Panarin together again?

The Rangers have about $10 million in cap space and still need to sign some players.

If the Rangers want Kane at 50% it will cost them at least Kaapo Kakko, a first round pick, and probably one of their prospect defenseman.

It may be worth it since, the Rangers need that one ingredient to push them closer to a Cup, and Kane may be just what they seek. He tallied 26 goals, 66 assists in 78 games.

He would be a rental, but if he can take them to the chance to raise the Stanley Cup, it must be considered.

We should know soon if Kane is interested in leaving Chicago's fire sale and joining a team where he could win a championship again.

And it may not depend of whether Jonathan Toews stays or retires as to what Kane wants to do with his future.

There seems to be no point in Kane sticking around in Chicago at this point. The team is going into a rebuild and has already shown that by dealing Alex DeBrincat and Kirby Dach on draft day.

Kane can't be too happy that he lost another linemate in DeBrincat whom he clicked with, and now may be deciding what to do going forward.

It would definitely serve the Blackhawks well to add a promising young forward like Kakko to their roster.

Can't you just hear it now? "Kane breaks into the zone, passes it to Panarin, and then back to Kane for the winning goal!"

We shall see...
