The team added Nick Foligno and Connor Bedard to the laundry list this weekend, as they need every bit of help they can get.
On Sunday, the team pulled from all its depth, including claiming Zach Sanford off waivers to face the Calgary Flames.
Considering the team is rebuilding and doesn't have the depth required to be a winning NHL team, the situation is challenging.
One NHL Insider provided an unusual solution for their unusual situation.
This involves making offers to stars of yesteryear's NHL roster to provide filling for gaps in the roster.
OK, hear me out. Kyle Davidson's next three calls should be to:
1. Phil Kessel
2. Jonathan Toews.
3. Jaromir Jagr

The team should make offers to Phil Kessel, Jonathan Toews, and Jaromir Jagr, according to Mark Lazerus of The Athletic.
Although Kyle Davidson isn't currently pursuing these free agents, they could offer a solution to the team's massive injury list.
It is most likely that Kessel will sign, as he was not looking to retire from hockey after bringing home another Stanley Cup last year.
To secure another NHL contract this year, Kessel even proposed ending his Ironman streak.
With Jonathan Toews' long-term health issues forcing him into retirement, it seems a bit unrealistic to suggest he should return to hockey.
Jaromir Jagr, who plays and runs HC Kladno in the Czech Extraliga, is similarly situated. His last NHL appearance was in 2017-2018 for the Calgary Flames, before he was released to return home.
