The 2023 entry draft was dominated by Connor Bedard, with everyone in the NHL, from pundits to fans, eagerly anticipating Bedard's selection by the Blackhawks.

Even before the draft, his stock had reached an all-time high due to the extraordinary hype. It's important to note that this draft marked one of the deepest in the last 20 years, with several other top-10 players likely to become generational talents.

One such generational talent is Adam Fantilli of the Columbus Blue Jackets. As the third overall pick in this year's draft, he garnered significant praise from many. After Anaheim passed on him, the Blue Jackets wasted no time selecting him third overall.

During tonight's preseason game against the Washington Capitals, Fantilli received a thunderous welcome when TJ Oshie delivered a powerful opening body check.

The body check sent him flying, along with his stick, but he quickly got back up and continued to play. In the 2022-2023 season, he played for the University of Michigan, participating in 36 games, scoring 30 goals, contributing 35 assists for a total of 65 points, and accumulating 67 penalty minutes. He also maintained an impressive +31 rating.

The NHL is poised to enjoy a player like Fantilli, and his presence will undoubtedly aid the Columbus Blue Jackets in moving one step closer to becoming playoff contenders.
