There's got to be nothing worse as a young hockey player then going to the NHL entry draft and not be selected by a NHL team. It's even more heartbreaking when it's happened to you three times. The the case for this young goaltender from the London Knights Brett Brochu.

Brett e was the number one goaltender for the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League and one of the best in the entire CHL. Unfortunately the young 19 year old went undrafted again likely due to his small 5'11 stature.

However that hasn't stopped Brochu's dreams to play in the NHL he's currently attending pro hockey at NHL development camps this week with the Vancouver Canucks.

Brochu set to turn 20 in September is hoping he can crack a spot on the Vancouver Canucks organization as an undrafted free agent. Brochu was ranked 31st among North American netminders heading into last week's National Hockey League draft but was not selected.

Brochu has always been told since he was a young goaltender growing up that he's just too small to be a goaltender. The five-foot-11 Brochu had a 29-11-2-0 record with two shutouts, 2.75 goals-against average and .911 save percentage this season for the London Knights good enough to earn him the OHL goaltender of the year award. He was the first Knights goalie to win the Jim Rutherford Trophy since Michael Houser in 2011-12. Brochu's also on Team Canada for the COVID-delayed world junior championships.

«I don't know what's going to be best for me,» Brochu said in late May after London's first-round playoff defeat to Kitchener. «There are a lot of different scenarios I have to play through and make some big decisions. Whatever that is, I want to make sure I'm playing and developing. Personally, I think I'm ready for pro hockey and there are a lot of factors that go into it.»
