"The Chicago Blackhawks hit the ice for training camp today and it definitely felt weird with a couple of players missing. Corey Crawford wasn't on the ice after leaving during free agency, while Jonathan Toews and Kirby Dach were missing because of injury and Brent Seabrook was labelled "unfit to participate". Not the start many wanted and now another forward wasn't given the start he was hoping for. Blackhawks general manager Stan Bowman placed Zack Smith on waivers. Smith is in the final year of his deal that carries an AAV of $3.25million and a modified no trade clause.
