With so much hype going into the 2021-22 Chicago Blackhawks season, it was pretty disappointing to see them start it off with a 4-2 loss to the Colorado Avalanche. A large injection of talent added by general manager Stan Bowman during the offseason came out flat during the opening period and pretty much gave away the game from the jump. The Avs took the early lead and never really looked back taking a 3-0 lead at one point. After the game head coach Jeremy Colliton explained what went wrong. «When they scored the first one, the game got out of control for most of that first period,» Colliton said. «It boils down to we didn't do a very good job with their rush offense. We didn't have enough guys back, and the guys we did have back, I didn't think we sorted out the rush well enough. They were able to get way, way too high a quality of chances in those situations, which they scored on.» «We need to be better, [and] we will be better,» Colliton said. «We've got good players and the stuff that happened is very correctable.»It's a trend that forward Dominik Kubalik admitted he noticed during preseason too. «[Slow starts] happened a couple times in the preseason, too,» Kubalik added. «I wouldn't say we weren't ready. But we didn't manage the puck how we wanted.»What do you think of Colliton and Kubalik's comments?
