Disgraced general manager Stan Bowman signs with Edmonton Oilers
The Edmonton Oilers recently lost former GM Ken Holland to retirement, as the team was without a GM for some time, during the off-season.
Ken Holland took his iteration of the Oilers to the Stanley Cup Finals during his last season as GM.
The architect of three Stanley Cup championship squads in Chicago (2010, 2013 and 2015), Bowman's teams went 493-310-109 during his tenure as GM and earned three Western Conference and Central Division titles along with a Presidents' Trophy in 2013.
Now the team looks to capitalize upon that success, as they have hired former Blackhawks GM and 3-time Stanley Cup champion, Stan Bowman.
Bowman was allowed to discuss employment opportunities soon after the NHL draft and was allowed to be hired after the 2nd week of July. This was sometime after resigning in 2021, due to fallout from how he and Joel Quenneville handled the Kyle Beach incident.
Bowman built the popular Chicago Blackhawks dynasty, which won 3 Stanley Cups.
He will be forever remembered, as a winning General Manager but will have to put in extra work in 2024-2025 to remove the tarnish which has persisted after his resignation.
He will come into the 2024 regular season, with a chip on his shoulder undoubtedly.
