Fans around the NHL are in mourning, as Blue Jackets fans have gathered for a impromptu memorial as they are saddened by the loss of Johnny Hockey. The banner read:
Fans would congregate and share their prayers and comfort.
Calgary, where Gaudreau was beloved as well, and spent the majority of his career saw people bring flowers, and his favorite snack on ice Skittles which his father Guy used to bring to Gaudreau after practice. They also brought purple Gatorade in reference to a past Gaudreau celebration.
While inside the Saddledome, a video tribute has been playing in honor of the late Gaudreau.
Gaudreau was a point-per-game player, with 642 points in 644 games and playoff games since his arrival in the league.
He's also broken records like Patrick Kane's world championship record with 30 assists and 43 points earlier in the year as well.
His Uncle Jim Gaudreau would release a statement later:
Johnny Gaudreau is survived by his wife Meredith, two children Noa and Johnny, his parents Guy and Jane, and sisters Kristen and Katie.
He will be missed by fans all across the NHL, and his loss will be mourned deeply.
