News broke today that former Blackhawks forward Corey Perry will be in the press box for game seven when the Oilers face off against the Canucks for one last game.

It appears the Oilers along with their head coach Kris Knoblauch feels that other players in his depth are better suited for game seven then Perry himself. Since signing with the team earlier this year, Perry has not panned out in the playoffs and has looked rather ineffective through 2 rounds of play.

The 39-year-old veteran joined the Oilers on January 22nd after being terminated by the Blackhawks after he was involved with a employee at a party. It was determined by general manager Kyle Davidson and ownership that he did not perform his code of conduct properly and was removed from the organization.

End of the road for Perry?

Through 10 games of these playoffs, he has no points and he is a - 3 with a ice time average of 10:55. The expectations were high that Perry would give the Oilers a boost in leadership along with key goals scored at key times to help the team propel in the playoffs. His game has fallen off dramatically and it appears that this may be the final stop 4 Perry in the NHL as he will have concluded his 19th season.

Game 7 against the Canucks will take hold in Vancouver on May 20th and game time will be 10:00 PM Eastern.
