Former NHL enforcer Donald Brashear has found himself run afoul of the law, as he's been charged with assault according to Radio Canada.
Donald Brashear is one of the toughest enforcers in the game, even past the end of his NHL career, he's continued to fight and play hockey in Quebec.
The league? The rebel "LNAH" focuses primarily on playing a gritty game, without the kind of protections we'd see in a regular NHL game nowadays.
Now, the bad-boy persona continues for Brashear, as Radio Canada reported in Quebec that Brasher would be charged with assault in court on Saturday via video conference.
The alleged victim is a woman, and no details about her, or connection to the accused have been made public.
Brashear's last far beyond his expected career as a 53-year-old who has yet to hang up the skates after playing 1,025 games in the NHL.
He'd never shy away from a fight, and his style of playing, and appetite for violence earned him both love and hate in the league.
In 2023-2024, he'd be seen in the LNAH playing for Jonquiere Marquis and has had no hesitation dropping the gloves to take on any opponent who challenges him. For his age, he continues to march on without fear.
It's a sad story for
Brashear that his proclivity for violence on the ice has spilled off into a scenario that could end up in negative territory for him.
While he's been charged, a formal conviction hasn't been assessed for the enforcer and we can't say for sure how he'll be judged in a court of his peers.
