According to a report by NHL insider Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff, around half a dozen NHL teams will face salary cap penalties for the 2024-25 season, as per CapFriendly.com.

Here are some more potential additions to add onto these teams' penalties:

Edmonton's Corey Perry could earn an extra $50,000 for reaching the Conference Final and Stanley Cup Final.

New York's Jonathan Quick could earn an extra $25,000 if the Rangers win the Stanley Cup.

Minnesota's Marco Rossi could earn an extra $212,500 for making the All-Rookie team.

Boston's Milan Lucic could earn an extra $200,000 if the Bruins win the Stanley Cup.

Florida's Kyle Okposo could earn an extra $500,000 if the Panthers win the Stanley Cup.

Carolina's Jackson Blake could earn an extra $57,500 if he plays 20 games this season, including the playoffs.

The Canes finished with $7,050 in cap space.

Interestingly, the Vegas Golden Knights are not on this list because GM Kelly McCrimmon hasn't deferred any salary to next season, unlike other teams. Despite criticism of McCrimmon's cap management, he's not breaking any rules, more-so exposing the NHL's salary cap era.

Currently, the Oilers face the largest cap overage, owing nearly $3.5 million for payments made this season.
