Jim Montgomery Gets Hired By Western Conference NHL Contender Days After Being Fired By Bruins
St.Louis Blues officially fire head coach Drew Bannister and hire Jim Montgomery
Just days after being fired by the Boston Bruins, the organization may be feeling the regret even more.
In a move that many felt was unneeded in Boston, the Bruins fired head coach Jim Montgomery on Tuesday, according to NHL.COM
On Sunday, the St.Louis Blues scored big and hired Jim Montgomery as the organizations next head coach.
Firing Drew Bannister, the Blues got a major upgrade behind the bench, in which many teams' fan bases wanted Montgomery.
Montgomery has been signed to a five-year deal as he becomes the St.Louis Blues' 28th head coach in franchise history.
The Blues issued the following statement.
«Today, I made a very difficult decision with regards to a coaching change. Jim Montgomery is a very good NHL coach and an even better person. He has made a positive impact throughout the Bruins organization, and I am both grateful and appreciative of the opportunity to work with him and learn from him,"
Bruins general manager Don Sweeney said
On Saturday night, the St.Louis Blues lost 3-1 to the New York Islanders, dropping their record to 9-12-1 on the 2023-24 season.
They are in sixth place in the NHL's central division, and clearly have a playoff plan with the hiring of Montgomery.
