Jaromir Jagr hasn't officially retired from professional hockey yet, but he may have to consider it soon. An injury in the Czech Extraliga has cause for concern.

Jaromir Jagr is the oldest known professional hockey player in the world at age 52. The former Pittsburgh Penguins forward has spent his time in the Czech Extraliga since leaving the league, with the team he now owns, HC Kladno.

He has decided to pick up on-ice duties in order to keep the team healthy and competitive for fans. But after suffering a Torn Hamstring it appears his days in an HC Kladno uniform may be numbered.

I have something to tell you. I know you're asking why I'm not playing in any pre-season games. Unfortunately, I was injured. I know that you supported me a lot and because of you I will not give up and I am training anyway. Back as soon as possible. Thank you for your support.

Jagr stated the injury happened during training, and he failed to heed the warnings of his physiotherapist Pavel Kolář.

When I talked to the physiotherapist Pavel Kolář about the fact that I would like to properly train, he warned me not to do anything that my body is not used to.

Of course, I didn't listen to him... I went for a run. Not the sprints I used to do uphill, but normally straight. But I put weights on my ankles and tore my hamstring.

That was about five days ago. Pavel said it would be three to six weeks. We'll see how it heals.

According to Jagr himself, he thinks he'll be back in six-weeks, but at the age of 52 the healing process is unpredictable. Jagr will try and persist and come back to the ice, when he's ready.

The worst part is that I'm mad at myself. I was preparing, I dropped a lot (of weight) and felt pretty good on the ice. Now it has stopped again, so I'll have to start from the beginning.

But I'm not one to screw it up when I've put so much into it. The very next day I went to do things that didn't hurt. However, skating is very important and I won't be on the ice for three to six weeks. Maybe it won't be that long, we'll see. When I walk, it doesn't hurt.

Hopefully Jagr is able to return to the ice, healthy and finish his hockey career with Kladno. With HC Kladno's season starting soon, we'll see how soon till Jagr is healthy and ready to play every Kladno game this season.
