The Pittsburgh Penguins will be without forward Michael Bunting tonight, as he was involved in an accident.
The Pittsburgh Penguins will be without key forward Michael Bunting as Head Coach Mike Sullivan announced that the forward was involved in an accident.
The extent of Bunting's injuries hasn't been reported just yet, but it has taken him out of the lineup tonight against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Bunting and passengers have been classified as "ok" which we could assumet tha they're holding him out of the lineup to make sure he's healthy enough to play the next game on January 14th against the Kraken.
The Penguins will miss his presence in the lineup dearly, as he's been a resurgent offensive force lately.
He's contributed eight power-play goals this season, and will not be able to execute tonight, as a result of the accident.
Bunting's wish was granted, and the gritty forward responded by pouring in his career-high eighth power-play goal of the season, albeit in a losing effort.
«That's kind of always been my game since, honestly, day one, since coming up in juniors and whatnot,» Bunting said Wednesday afternoon at UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex. «I find I'm comfortable there - willing to take the beating in front for the reward at the end of the day.»
This season in 43 games with the Penguins, he's been on an uprising of production we haven't witnessed since his time in Toronto.
He's scored 25 points (13 G, 12 A ) and is listed as "Day-To-Day" on DailyFaceOff.
While he is considered "okay", keep in mind there's a possibility of injuries after the car crash, not apparent on the day of the accident.
The Penguins could be holding him out for precautionary reasons, and we hope all of the other passengers are safe and free of harm as well.
