Rangers' Matt Rempe facing second NHL suspension following dirty hit
During last night's playoff matchup, New York Rangers rookie forward Matt Rempe delivered a forceful check on former Blackhawk Trevor van Riemsdyk, resulting in interference and a penalty for Rempe.
Meanwhile, van Riemsdyk was forced to leave the ice for evaluation by medical staff.
Renowned for his physical style of play, Rempe has swiftly become a presence in the NHL for being a 'goon', especially in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Unfortunately, it was Capitals defenseman Trevor van Riemsdyk who bore the brunt of Rempe's aggression during last night's game.
The hard hit behind the net led to a penalty for Rempe and sent van Riemsdyk to the locker room for assessment, van Riemsdyk did not return to the game following the collision.
Fans are eager to see how both players recover from the incident, if van Riemsdyk will be able to return to the series and if Rempe will be suspended for the remainder of it.
