Red Wings make big decision with Alex DeBrincat and Patrick Kane
The Detroit Red Wings are 37-30-8 for in the 2023-2024 NHL regular season and attempting to claw their way back into a Wild-Card spot.
They will be taking on the New York Rangers, who are one of the NHL's best teams right now.
They will need more than 82 points in the Eastern Conference to dethrone the new Wild Card holders, in the New York Islanders.
A huge 2-point win against the New York Rangers would be a great start and coach Derek Lalonde is attempting to set up the team for success.
As Max Bultman of The Athletic reported Lalonde had set lines and changed things up again for the Red Wings.
His goal is of course to secure a win and in order to do so, Lalonde has paired Alex DeBrincat and Patrick Kane on the first line, with center Dylan Larkin.
The Wings desperately need a win to help secure the 2nd Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference.
It's not surprising Lalonde has reassembled this line, as they are some of the best 5v5 forwards on the team this year.
A number of Red Wings played significant five-on-five minutes Wednesday and emerged with great shares of on-ice xG. Those include Dylan Larkin (55.1% in 15:55), Alex DeBrincat (57.2% in 15:25), J.T. Compher (60.2% in 14:28), Patrick Kane (60.3% in 15:14), and Ben Chiarot (69.0% in 18:50).Dec 21, 2023 Source: The Hockey News
