The Red Wings Legend Vladmir Konstantinov Joins A Sled Hockey Game
Vladimir Konstantinov was one of the legendary Russian five who skyrocketed the original 6, Detroit Red Wings back into championship glory in the 1990s.
However, after a limousine crash, he was left disabled and was left a spectator as his teammates continued their glory.
Konstantinov would spend several weeks in a coma and suffer paralysis, unfortunately leaving him unable to play hockey as he knew it again.
But for the first time in a long time, Konstantinov was afforded an opportunity with Belle Tire's Sled Hockey, with Kim Muir's Can't Skate, Can't Play for Special Needs.
Muir started power skating in 1990 and was once a competitor with the United States Figure Skating Association, she has been a part of the hockey community for 3 decades and has undoubtedly given Vladimir Konstantinov some joy as he finds a new way to play hockey again in this photo.
Our goal is to create an inclusive and empowering environment for hockey players with special needs. We strive to provide opportunities for growth, skill development, and social interaction, along with raising awareness, support, and resources for these individuals, promoting inclusivity and breaking down barriers within the hockey community. Together, we strive to foster a sense of belonging, build self-confidence, and celebrate their unique abilities. The ultimate goal is to make a lasting impact, inspiring and empowering individuals with special needs, to reach their full potential both on and off the ice.
