The Edmonton Oilers have decided what's best for the organization in the second and third round of the NHL playoffs and that happens to be removing the 1300 NHL veteran Corey Perry from the lineup.
Reporters have stated that fans may have witnessed Corey Perry's last game on May 16 when the Edmonton Oilers face the Vancouver Canucks, Perry only played seven minutes and was a minus one (-1).
Since then, Perry has been healthy scratched by the Oilers and has not seen the ice once, Perry remains in a suit and tie in the box while teammates suit up to go to war on ice in hopes to secure the Stanley Cup.
Despite winning the cup in 2007, his veteran presence is not enough for the Oilers.
Sometimes when this happens, it doesn't sit well with the veterans, especially when the Oilers decide to play Sam Carrick, a 32 year old player who has been an AHL player for most of his career, but instead of being salty over this matter, Corey Perry has taken it into a opportunity to lead the Oilers off ice.
Perry was recently seen in the suit and tie, shaking the hands of his oilers teammates, following their game-one win against the Dallas Stars. this says a lot about Corey Perry. He chooses to take the high note, despite the team having other plans with him.
Although this may mark a sorry career ending for Perry, he's still got his games in to earn a significant bonus (over $275,000).
This leads to one question: will the Oilers decision to sit out a 1300 game NHL veteran with a cup underneath his belt result in a Cup win?
