Columbus Blue Jackets Patrick Laine has been traded to the Chicago Blackhawks rivals
The Columbus Blue Jackets and Montreal Canadiens have made a massive trade, as the Patrik Laine saga comes to a close.
Only recently, Laine had been cleared to return from the NHL, NHLPA's players assistance program.
It seems to have been a whirlwind for the forward, as he put the property he owned on sale in Columbus and was seen jet-setting to Montreal not more than a week ago.
This could've been the turning point for all of this, as Don Waddell and the Columbus Blue Jackets have traded Patrik Laine and 2026 2nd-round pick, to the Montreal Canadiens for defenseman Jordan Harris.
Harris was selected 71st overall in the 2018 NHL Draft and has played 131 NHL Games, scoring 32 points( 8 G, 24 A), and a -5 for his career.
The Blue Jackets have achieved what Patrik Laine requested, a way out of town and the Blue Jackets have also dumped his salary.
All the while Laine gets a fresh start, with Cole Caulfied and Nick Suzuki as possible linemates.
What's GM Kent Hughes cooking in Montreal?
