Major Announcement Confirms it: Patrik Laine A Blackhawk?
The Columbus Blue Jackets forward, Patrik Laine has been released from the Players Assistance Program.
As expected he's had plenty of suitors interested in his services, as a power-play sniper and goal-scoring forward.
According to GM Don Waddell, there is only steam after the winger, could it be the Chicago Blackhawks?
GM Kyle Davidson is looking to improve the Blackhawks lineup and did so significantly during the off-season. Adding a sniper to Bedard's wing would add a dimension to an already deep line if it is to be Tyler Bertuzzi and Connor Bedard on the 1st line.
However, there hasn't been much interest in Laine's services just yet. GM Don Waddell told Brian Hedger of the Columbus Dispatch earlier this week that at this point, only one team has contacted him to express interest in acquiring his services.
Given where we are in the offseason, Waddell isn't particularly surprised nor does he expect the situation to change in the near future:
Patrik Laine's cost is draft picks and prospects, of which the Blackhawks have plenty of assets to deal, with after 3 successful drafts under Kyle Davidson.
The question is, will a deal get done?
