The deal would send Blackhawks defenseman Seth Jones to the Calgary Flames for star-forward, Jonathan Huberdeau.
Huberdeau who was once an all-star and top producer in the Florida Panthers system, under Joel Quenneville and Andrew Brunette, has struggled to adapt to Calgary Flames hockey.
Huberdeau's 8 year, $84 Million dollar contract has become an albatross on the Flames neck. With a fresh start in Chicago, alongside Connor Bedard, Huberdeau could revitalize his career and production.
During his two-year stint in Calgary so far, he has notched 27 goals, 80 assists for 107 points total in 160 games played.
The Blackhawks could benefit from Huberdeau's offensive potential and possibly restore his production to his 2021-2022 levels which saw him post 30 goals, 85 assists in 80 games with the Panthers.
With cap space available, Kyle Davidson could eat part of his $10.5 Million contract and rejuvenate his play, placing the winger alongside Bedard.
The Flames could also shore up their defense with Seth Jones, while saving $1 Million extra on the salary cap, after losing Noah Hanifin and Chris Tanev.
Jones has 6 years remaining on his contract, with an AAV of $9.5 Million with a total $76 Million contract value.
During his three-year tenure in Chicago, Seth Jones has posted 24 goals, 95 assists for 119 points, with a -90 plus/minus, 282 hits, 411 blocked shots and played 217 games for the Hawks.
This trade could solve issues for the Hawks and Flames, as Calgary receives a reliable defensive piece, while the Blackhawks load up offensively.
