The newest Chicago Blackhawks forward Ilya Mikheyev was acquired he was dealt to another team in the NHL, which is currently undesirable.

The worst team in the league, the San Jose Sharks had made a deal to acquire the forward, but he wouldn't waive the no-trade clause to be sent to the Sharks.

Instead, GM Patrik Allvin and GM Kyle Davidson made a deal that would send Ilya Mikheyev and Sam Lafferty and a 2027 2nd-round pick to Chicago, with the Canucks retaining 15% of the salary of the forward.

In return the team sent a 2027 4th round pick to the Canucks, ending Mikheyev's time in Chicago.

We almost saw Ilya Mikheyev (@ilyamikheev66) 🇷🇺 go to the #Sharks 🇺🇸 but he wouldn't waive his no-trade clause to go to San Jose.

San Jose reportedly wouldn't have wanted Vancouver to retain salary on Mikheyev, unlike Chicago, who made them retain 15%.

And in what could've been a great deal for Allvin, wasn't flying for Mikheyev as the GM wouldn't have had to retain salary if sent to San Jose.

The 29-year-old forward had 31 points( 11 G, 20 A) in 78 games with the Canucks this season and recently signed a four-year deal in Vancouver after spending three seasons in Toronto.

In the long-run could this be a sign of trouble for GM Kyle Davidson, or just an example of a player being smart with his career?

He could be the next NHL player to rejuvenate his career in Chitown.
