General manager Kyle Davidson has completed several blockbuster deals since taking over as general manager in 2021, some have not sat well with fans but in summary they've all stuck with the rebuilding plan and have lead to the organization landing Connor Bedard.

Tearing down the roster to receive as many draft assets as he can? He's surely done the job, the Blackhawks now rank top 3 in the NHL's prospect ranking pools.

This upcoming summer, that could all change as the Blackhawks have their youth core setup nicely in Connor Bedard, Alex Vlasic, Kevin Korchinski, Frank Nazar and several other highly touted prospects like Oliver Moore.

The Blackhawks management indicated that the rebuild is near being over and that they're reading to bring in support for Connor Bedard this off-season with their whopping $39M cap space, there's big names on the market that the organization is keeping an eye on.

Davidson has previously insisted that this roster has to get better and that they can't finish bottom-three in the NHL standings again.

Holding the second overall pick in this years draft, it doesn't take a scientist to reveal that the team won't part ways with that No. 2 pick, but they have a second pick in the first round sitting at 20th overall.

Reporter of the Daily Faceoff Matt Larkin wrote on Sunday that the organization is eyeing down trading that pick for a veteran star, here's what he had to say:

IF WE ACCEPT THE PREMISE THAT THE BLACKHAWKS COULD IMPROVE SIGNIFICANTLY NEXT SEASON BY PUTTING THE RIGHT PERSONNEL AROUND BEDARD: DOES DAVIDSON CONSIDER PACKAGING THAT OTHER FIRST-ROUND PICK AND ATTEMPTING TO TRADE FOR AN IMPACT PLAYER WHO IS ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF 30? THINK TRAVIS KONENY OR NIKOLAI EHLERS, FOR INSTANCE.- Matt Larkin

The Blackhawks have a projected $33.84 million in cap space heading into this off-season and next year, with the team wanting to bring in talent around Connor Bedard, 27-year old Canadian born Travis Konecny could be the ideal fit.

Konecny has 400 career points in a whopping 520+ career games with the dwelling Philadelphia Flyers, Konecny has has little to no support, much like Bedard in his first season.

Both players are in the same position and could help each other out in many ways, while Konecny is known for his playmaking abilities and grittiness, he could serve as a protector and skilled player for Connor Bedard.
