The Chicago Blackhawks have a chance to improve their standings in net, as Nashville Predators goalie, Yaroslav Askarov has asked Barry Trotz for a trade.

The goalie was drafted 11th overall in the 2020 NHL Draft, won a Bronze Medal in the Hlinka Gretzky cup, and a Silver at the U18 World Junior Championships, and named best goalie in the tournament.

Askarov signed his entry-level contract with the Predators after his 2021-2022 KHL season ended. He would ship to Milwaukee and the AHL, playing there the next two seasons.

His record was a stellar, 26-16-5 record, 2.69 GAA with a save percentage of .911, and following it up in 2023-2024 with a 30-13-3, 2.39 GAA, and a .911 save percentage.

However, Askarov had hoped one day to reach the NHL, but with the signing of Scott Wedgewood to a two-year $3 Million dollar deal, and the signing of Juuse Saros long-term on July 1st, 2024 it appears his path is blocked.

What should Kyle Davidson trade for Yaroslav Askarov? He's proven to be a consistent goalie in the AHL and ready for the jump to the NHL.

Askarov is a proven option, and you could find a way to make the deal if it makes sense. The Blackhawks could make a package of picks and an NHL player to move for the goalie, whether it's 2-2nd round picks and a player like Adam Gajan or Drew Commesso, this could be an easy upgrade in net.

With the Blackhawks having 5-2nd-round picks in the next two years, it wouldn't be a bad idea.
