Blackhawks veteran rudely calls out Connor Bedard and the kids during interview after loss
The veteran forward Nick Foligno has a storied career in the NHL, having played in multiple playoff games against top-tier teams.
Think about how frustrating it would be to lose yet again to your divisional rivals, the St. Louis Blues. While the Hawks allowed the Blues to score four goals, they only scored two themselves.
Foligno spoke to reporters following the game and criticized some of his younger teammates.
Nick Foligno on guys getting a chance because a number of veterans are out:
"Your hair should be on fire this whole year. Because you could be a big part of building this and being a part of the future of this. There is no excuse for that. ...
As Foligno said, some players on the lineup weren't NHL-ready, so he wasn't happy with their play. The Hawks are caught between a rock and a hard place following Taylor Hall's injury and Corey Perry's mysterious disappearance.
#Blackhawks forward Nick Foligno frustrated with lack of compete early in games.
"Twenty games in you kind of understand the league a little bit or you should. I'm not saying it's gonna be perfect, but there's got to be a little bit more of a commitment to that."
"Your hair should be on fire this whole year. Because you could be a big part of building this and being a part of the future of this," said Foligno. "There is no excuse for that. Every time we step on the ice, find your motivation whatever it may be. I can think about 10 (things) already and I'm a 36-year-old guy. So that should through every guy in this room."
In light of the fact that Foligno was a member of the team that won the President's Trophy last year, he undoubtedly has high standards for himself and his teammates. Perhaps he hopes to bring that battle to Chicago.
But will his attitude be infectious after this interview?
