Blackhawks AHL team receives tough medical after clinching playoffs
The Chicago Blackhawks may not be making it to the playoffs this season, but bad news has also struck their AHL affiliate, the Rockford IceHogs.
Just after clinching a playoff spot, they received news that defenseman Nolan Allan will be out long-term due to a lower-body injury.
Allan, who has also played a few games with the Blackhawks this season, is expected to miss 3-4 weeks. This setback comes at a crucial time for the IceHogs as they prepare for the postseason as they clinched a playoff spot on Tuesday, April 3rd.
Losing Allan will impact the team's defensive lineup as he is their main glue to the backend. However, the IceHogs will need to rally together and adapt to overcome this challenge as they aim to make a deep playoff run, and hope to get him back shortly if he recovers properly with zero setbacks.
