The Chicago Blackhawks are loaded defensively in terms of prospects. However, there's one glaring issue, and that's the currently unknown and uncompleted forward core, especially at the 2C. Well, there may be a solution that Davidson can get, and that is to trade for Dylan Cozens.

Dylan Cozens is 23 years old and is on the Buffalo Sabres.

The Sabres haven't won in the last ten games after having a good start to their season and it's been said that the Sabres are shopping Cozens, so why not?

Cozens currently has six goals and seven assists, tallying up to 13 points in 31 games. Sure, that stat isn't pretty, but no one on Buffalo is playing good right now and on the Blackhawks, he'd be one of the top point producers.

You'll be getting Cozens for the potential and not what he's doing right now, because the team is in no position to win for the next couple years.

Dylan had 47 points in 79 games last year and had his best season in 2022-23 when he posted 68 points in 81 games.

He has yet to play a full season.

That all sounds good, but the problem is not only the price to get him, but the investment. Let's start with the investment.

Cozens just started a seven-year, $49.7 million contract this year. That's a huge commitment for someone you are not necessarily sure about and still needs to make some sort of rise.

Plus, the price is going to be high. The Blackhawks should already be taking the likes of Artyom Levshunov, Kevin Korchibski, Sam Rinzel, and possibly Oliver Moore off the list. So who does that leave? You're going to be giving up the Toronto first-round pick either way.

However, if he becomes the second line center Chicago needs, especially if he really improves at $7.1 million, it would all be worth it.
