NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman announced that three NHLers were put on waivers today, should GM Kyle Davidson claim one of them?

The Chicago Blackhawks could always use depth on the blue line, whether in Chicago or Rockford.

And today, there was a plethora of depth put on waivers as depth forward Devin Shore, defenseman Erik Brannstrom, and forward Gage Goncalves were sent down today.

If any of them clear, they'll be headed to their club's AHL affiliates in Iowa, Syracuse, and Abbotsford.

That is where GM Kyle Davidson's music starts to play, as the Blackhawks could take advantage of Patrik Allvin's mistake.

This season in 28 games with the Canucks Brannstrom has served as a bottom-pairing defenseman and scored 8 points( 3 G, 5 A ).

With news of TJ Brodie's healthy scratch, and moves in the AHL that signifies something bigger happening. The Blackhawks could afford to add him.

Brannstrom has an affordable cap hit of $900K AAV and is set to be an RFA at the end of his term this season.

Cost-controlled contracts are attractive to teams, and Brannstrom still has room to develop.

In the last two seasons played with the Ottawa Senators, he's had 18 and 20+ point seasons. In Rockford, we could see him develop into the player he was drafted to be 15th overall in 2017 by the Vegas Golden Knights.

Depth Options

The Minnesota Wild placed Devin Shore and Ben Jones on waivers today.

«Ben Jones's and Devin Shore's have been placed at the NHL toss by the Minnesota Wild.»

michael Russo, The Athletic

Jones is another Vegas Golden Knights draft pick, who is a six-foot, 187-pound forward who's been unable to crack an NHL lineup.

Devin Shore was a 2nd-round pick of the Dallas Stars in 2012, has proven to be a depth forward in the league. He's been on the Columbus Blue Jackets, Minnesota Wild, Edmonton Oilers, Seattle Kraken, and Dallas Stars. Could this be it for the depth option?

Last but not least, the Tampa Bay Lightning have placed Gage Goncalves on waivers, a 2nd-round draft pick by the Lightning in 2020, has only played 26 games this season.
