Major last-minute development and it appears the Blackhawks are acquiring Canucks' Elias Pettersson
The final score wasn't the jaw-dropping news that fans found out prior to the game, it was the team only icing 17 skaters, despite having healthy high-end prospects available to play, that have been with Rockford since the start of the season.
The Blackhawks second overall pick of the 2024 NHL draft,
Artyom Levshunov, alongside
Paul Ludwinski, the Blackhawks' 39th overall pick of the draft, and forward
Joey Anderson- who recently signed an NHL extension this off-season, were all not in the lineup.
Those are the IceHogs' 3 key players, and the future of their NHL organization. No injury, sickness, or healthy scratching announcement was made, and they were present at the game, signing autographs for fans.
This now leaves fans and even Chicago Blackhawks team reporters speculating, and it seems as if a trade is underway.
The IceHogs also made a sneaky move, recalling three players (ironically the same positions as Levshunov, Ludwinski and Anderson) just minutes before midnight on Sunday, weird, huh?
No announcement was made on the recalls, but Blackhawks fans did some investigating and found them on the AHL transaction site.
Mystery in Rockford could be huge for the Blackhawks
According to several team reporters of the Blackhawks, they are genuinely
confused as to what is going on as this is not normal.
Last week, we revealed that the Canucks are actively shopping Elias Pettersson and are in search of young players with high potential, much like Pettersson.
It seems as though the Blackhawks may be acquiring Elias Pettersson in exchange for #2 overall pick Artyom Levshunov, Paul Ludwinski, Joey Anderson and possibly more from the Blackhawks side of things (a draft pick?)
Is there a possibility of a big trade (EP40)? I don't think it would be smart for Chicago but let's see.
