A major health update from the Blackhawks' broadcaster
With 13 years of NHL experience and a current role as a Chicago Blackhawks broadcaster, Tony Granato is no stranger to the NHL.
During the early part of December 2023, he was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma and stepped away from his broadcasting duties.
Since then, he has taken a leave of absence from NHL Network and NBC Sports Chicago.
He will begin treatment for non-Hodgkins lymphoma, according to a statement he made.
Meanwhile, as of Jan 5th, 2024, he has returned from his leave of absence and will work remotely with NBC Sports Chicago on pre-game presentations.
We're excited to have Tony back!
Granato has accomplished a lot in the NHL, spending 3 years as the coach of the Colorado Avalanche and returning to coach his Alma Mater with the University of Wisconsin soon after that.
