After a month on the sidelines due to a shoulder injury, Jones will be back in action, pairing up with Alex Vlasic on the Hawks' top defensive duo.
Jones, who last played on December 10 against the Washington Capitals before landing on injured reserve, had contributed 11 assists in 27 games earlier in the season.
The 29-year-old veteran leads the Blackhawks in ice time, averaging an impressive 25 minutes and 25 seconds per game.
With Jones rejoining the lineup, Jarred Tinordi will be a healthy scratch for the game. Tinordi, who has recorded six assists in 23 games, notably had a challenging performance in the Blackhawks' previous encounter with the Stars on December 29.
Head coach Luke Richardson expressed disappointment at scratching Tinordi, emphasizing the need for physical presence but acknowledging the positive impact of the young players stepping up.
Despite Jones' return being a positive development, the Blackhawks still have six notable players on the injury report. Nevertheless, they face a tough challenge as they take on the Dallas Stars at the United Center.
The game is scheduled to start at 7 PM CT and will be broadcasted on NBC Sports Chicago.
