New York Rangers Set to Acquire Major Asset From Chicago Blackhawks
The New York Rangers are on the lookout for center improvements, especially with Filip Chytil out for the season and Nick Bonino sent down to the AHL.
Keep a close eye on the Rangers as we approach the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline.
One name connected to the Rangers recently is Tyler Johnson from the Chicago Blackhawks. It's anticipated that Johnson will be traded before the deadline since he's on an expiring contract, and the Blackhawks are in a rebuilding phase, ranking among the NHL's bottom teams.
The Blackhawks are likely to move him for a prospect and/or a draft pick.
At 33, Johnson has played 35 games this season for the Blackhawks, recording nine goals and 13 points. While it's been a bit of a down year offensively, he hasn't had the strongest offensive support on the Blackhawks.
A move to the Rangers might provide the boost he needs to improve his scoring. Just last season, he tallied 12 goals and 32 points.
Now, we'll have to wait and see if the Rangers and Blackhawks strike a deal involving Johnson before the trade deadline.
