The Blackhawks currently have Petr Mrazek, Arvid Soderblom, Drew Commesso Laurent Brossoit and Adam Gajan within their ranks and four of the five of them are NHL ready or soon to be part have the goalie picture.
This debate has been going on for the past few days as it appears that Laurent Brossoit who has been injured since August after a meniscus injury has kept him off the ice. It seems that he has a lingering set back that has kept him from practice, but he will be available sooner rather than later.
The Blackhawks have a trade chip that many teams would envy as goaltending has become a concern across the NHL as the stellar goaltenders of the 1990s and 2000s are all retired. While there's still some great goaltenders including Rangers starter Igor Shesterkin and aging goaltenders Andrei Vasilevskiy and Sergei Bobrovsky many teams will be looking for this position especially teams that are competing for the Stanley Cup later this year.
Head coach Luke Richardson along with general manager Kyle Davidson would likely keep their younger goaltenders in Commesso and Soderblom as they would be the future of the teams. With the team unlikely to make the playoffs again this year, there's a good chance that they will send either Mrazek or Brossoit depending on his return to another organization Blackhawks continue to stockpile more picks and prospects during this rebuild.
The Blackhawks will be on the road in hopes their goaltending and the rest of the team can build after their 2-1 win when they head to Seattle to face off against the Kraken. Game time will be at 10:00pm eastern.
