The Chicago Blackhawks have been put in a difficult position, after a lack of effort from Philipp Kurashev against the Red Wings, is he next to be traded?

The Chicago Blackhawks had a dismal showing against the Detroit Red Wings, even with the help of Teuvo Teravainen's two goals, there were some players who didn't show up.

Head Coach Anders Sorensen called out Philipp Kurashev for his lack of effort on the ice last night, as he seemed to give up the idea of playing defense against the Wings.

Now, it looks as if he's next on the trade block, as he can be blamed for the Red Wings' 2nd goal in the 3rd period, which Andrew Copp scored.

The Blackhawks would collapse despite their best efforts, which we didn't see much of in Kurashev's play last night.

It seems the former 50+ point forward Philipp Kurashev was unable to put it together last night.

Last night Kurashev was on the ice for a goal, with a -1, 1 giveaway, and would play 15 shifts with 11:19 TOI last night.

Best Efforts or Wasted Cap Space?

Which begs the question, should the Blackhawks keep him around?

Kurashev won 4 out of 6 face-offs, but that was the extent of what he could do against the Blackhawks' original six rivals last night.

It seems as if the Blackhawks should consider moving his meager $2.25 Million cap hit off the books, as he hasn't been able to prove he's worth it to GM Kyle Davidson.

Kurashev's contract will expire at the end of the season as an RFA, and if he isn't given a qualifying offer of $2.25 Million or more, he could end up a UFA.

But, since his contract is cost-controlled and the next team that claims him would maintain his rights, it would make more sense to trade him for something.

Kurashev was drafted 120th overall in the 4th round of the 2018 NHL Draft.

In 31 games this season Kurashev has only lit the lamp 3 times, scoring 5 points total.

If you were GM Kyle Davidson of the Chicago Blackhawks would you trade Forward Philipp Kurashev?
