Blackhawks make an unfortunate announcement involving forward Connor Bedard
Stop me if you've heard this before, but GM Kyle Davidson was intent on improving the Blackhawks through trades and off-season acquisitions.
However, it seems like that might be just PR as Davidson has expressed intent on running the team back, with a few players who weren't capable of making a huge impact.
Those players are Andreas Athanasiou and Taylor Hall, which we understand why he'd consider running it back, but adding Ilya Mikheyev and Sam Lafferty doesn't seem like the massive leap needed to push the team forward in the rankings.
Sure, Hall is a great winger when healthy, but it seems like running back the 31st ranked team in 2023-2024, could be a red-flag for die-hard Hawks fans.
Are you kidding me? This is extremely disappointing if they're just going to run back the same exact team. #Blackhawks
Kyle Davidson left the door open for more forward signings and trades, but seemed to be trying to temper expectations heading into free agency. Sounds like he's comfortable with a healthy Taylor Hall and Andreas Athanasiou being the big upgrades.
If Taylor Hall returns to his 2020-2021 form, where he scored 20 goals and 61 points with the Bruins, this could be great.
Otherwise, it's just disappointing how ambitious he was prior to free-agency and now, we're just settling again.
