Mark Lazerus of The Athletic tweeted that Sorensen decided to add Philip Kurashev back at center between Connor Bedard and Teuvo Teravainen.
Lazerus feels this will not work as trying to recapture past chemistry seems to have failed.
Sorensen is a rookie head coach and has become the first Swedish in NHL history. General Manager Kyle Davidson made it very clear during his press conference after the dismissal of Richardson that he is looking for better results and a different approach on how the Blackhawks will play games.
He also expressed the cliche answer of needing a new voice as it became clear that Richardson did not have anymore answers to help break the stalemate especially when it comes to Connor Bedard's lack of offense an erosion of confidence that has reached dangerous levels.
Davidson will give Sorensen plenty of runway during the remainder of this season as the Blackhawks have much work to do.
The biggest obstacle they face is the lack of offence they produce and that many key players that were brought in during the offseason this past summer have not performed up to par and are much older then Bedard.
With the constant line changes and the Blackhawks trapped in their own end for many games call it's safe to say that it will take time to break the bad habits and the losing ways in hopes of winning more hockey games and giving the confidence the team needs to move forward.
With so many contracts on a one year basis, it's likely Davidson will be shipping out several of their veterans at the trade deadline in March which will make this team look even more different then it is at the moment.
Sorenson lost his first game last evening against the Winnipeg Jets 4-2 and they will be on the road to head to Madison Square Garden where they will take on the New York Rangers on Monday December 9th. Game time will be 7:00 PM eastern.
