Chicago Blackhawks set to part ways with player.. or goaltender?

The Chicago Blackhawks are gearing up for an important offseason, with General Manager Kyle Davidson holding enough cap space to steer the team in any direction he chooses.

With a number of players up for contract renewals, this summer promises to be a busy one for the Blackhawks.

According to Todd Matthews , a journalist who covers the Chicago Blackhawks, while many players are expected to sign extensions, not everyone is set to stay.

Key players like Ryan Donato, Andreas Athanasiou, Landon Slaggert, and Philip Kurashev are reportedly set to renew their contracts with the team.

However, one name stands out that's as good as gonegoalie Arvid Soderblom.

Soderblom, who ended the season with less than stellar stats including an 0.879 save percentage and a 3.92 goals against average, has not shown the progress expected from his previous performances. His struggle in the net has led to speculation that he might not only skip an extension but could also be on his way out of Chicago.

As July 1st approaches, more Blackhawks will become eligible for extensions, shaping the team's roster for the upcoming seasons, or possibly parting ways with more names aside from Soderblom, to bring fresh faces in.

The Blackhawks' management decisions in the next few months will be crucial in defining their path and potential for the 2024-25 NHL season.
