Johnny (31) and Matthew Gaudreau (29) were both going for a bike ride when they were struck by an alleged drunk driver, Sean Higgins (43), and sadly passed away.

The Gaudreau brothers were just one day away from attending their sisters wedding, as they were set to tie the knot for her. A bike ride in the city of New Jersey took a turn for the worst when Sean Higgins overtook two cars who were allegedly driving 'slow', where he then struck Matthew and Johnny as he was in their direction.

The hockey community is devastated on Friday, August 30, to learn this news.

As are each and every NHL organization, including the Chicago Blackhawks, who released their own statement Friday morning.

''The Chicago Blackhawks are profoundly saddened to learn of the passing of Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau. We extend our deepest condolences to the entire Gaudreau family as well as the Columbus Blue Jackets and Calgary Flames organizations during this horribly tragic time. Hockey is a close-knit family, and this loss is felt deeply by all of us.''

Us at Hawksinsider would also like to send our deepest condolences to the friends, family, and loved ones affected by this true tragedy.
