In an odd set of circumstances, the Bruins sign a former Blackhawk.

The 34-year-old, told reporters last season that he wanted to play meaningful hockey and wasn't excited with his time in Chicago.

He would then walk in free-agency hopeful of finding a new contract, to find a team to grind it out with.

He will get his shot, but he will have to work his way up a Bruins lineup that has up-and-coming rookies, such as Matthew Poitras, Georgii Merkulov, and Fabian Lysell who could end up getting a look in the NHL this season.

He will have a fight ahead of him throughout training camp to remain relevant in Jim Montgomery's team.

The 34-year-old winger, had 31 points(17 G, 14 A) in 67 games with the Blackhawks last season.

Johnson's last contract which was $35 Million dollar total, signed with the Lightning in July of 2017.

He helped push the team to two Stanley Cup Champions in 2020 and 2021.
