Chicago Blackhawks re-assign young forward to the Rockford Ice Hogs
In an announcement from their AHL affiliate in Rockford, the Chicago Blackhawks have made a roster move, re-assigning prospect Gavin Hayes to the minors. Hayes, a third-round pick in the 2022 NHL Draft (66th overall), is set to embark on his journey in pro hockey after a successful stint in the OHL.
During the season, Hayes showcased his talent while playing for OHL Flint and Soo, tallying an impressive total of 37 goals and 39 assists in 55 games. Additionally, he contributed 16 points in 11 postseason contests for the Soo Greyhounds.
Having already signed his entry-level contract, Hayes will now have the opportunity to gain valuable experience in the AHL before transitioning to full-time professional hockey next season in the NHL. This stint in the minors will serve as a stepping stone for Hayes as he continues to develop his skills and adapt to the demands of the professional game.
Hayes is poised to make a big impact on the ice and contribute to the future success of the Chicago Blackhawks organization throughout this rebuild.
