Chicago Blackhawks to acquire Lightning's bully for Connor Bedard's protection
The Blackhawks management team is constantly evaluating its roster in how to improve it and it appears they have found a player who would give protection for Connor Bedard going into next year who happens to be Tanner Jeannot.
Lightning general manager Julien Brisebois chose to bring back Ryan McDonagh as it was his request to return to the lightning after spending some time with the Nashville Predators. Since his return, this has left an issue with cap space, and it appears that Jeannot maybe the player on the move.
The 27-year-old left winger would bring extremely physical gain to the Blackhawks and would give that protection that Bedard needs. Not known for his goal scoring or point production, he played 55 games for the lightning, scoring seven goals with seven assists for 14 points and had 75 penalty minutes.
The Blackhawks have plenty of cap space to handle which stands around $2.6 million per season. The lightning traded many draft picks to acquire him but it's likely they would not acquired as many back in a trade from the Blackhawks.
Time will tell if general manager Kyle Davidson makes a move with Brisebois, but a player like this will certainly help the Blackhawks in the present and the future as the roster continues to round out into form.
