Chicago Sports Network, New streaming platform finally reveals key details to Blackhawks fans
Chicago Blackhawks fans were concerned about how they could watch their hometown team, on the Chicago Sports Network.
The Network has finally revealed its broadcast partner in the area, as they have finalized an over-the-air agreement with WJYS TV.
The team will be broadcast on channels 62.2 and 62.3 and will be converted to HD. They will carry the CHSN programs full-time beginning October 1st.
The CHSN broadcast team will consist of Tony Granato, Pat Boyle, and Caley Chelios.
Play-by-play will be taken over by Rick Ball, who arrived in Chicago from Calgary and took over for Chris Vosters.
CHSN released a statement detailing the agreements it had reached to distribute local live games for three Chicago teams:
«multiyear distribution agreement to provide the network and its live local game telecasts for the Chicago Blackhawks, Bulls and White Sox across a five-state footprint, including most of Illinois, Iowa and parts of Indiana, Michigan and Wisconsin, on the very first day of availability Oct. 1, 2024.»
CHSN will be available on DirectTV and the Network is in the middle of negotiations with Comcast/Xfinity, we should hear an update on negotiations in the coming days.
CHSN is still working on the details as with the CHSN it seems unlikely that we'll be able to watch Blackhawks pre-season games.
Since the transition occurs on October 1st, they won't be able to show the first three Blackhawks games in September.
On September 25th the opener will be available to be viewed on Blackhawks.com but the following two will be able to be heard on the radio only.
While it's not a huge deal, that leaves my fans without an option to watch the games instead of being forced to listen to them.
