Connor Bedard receives major backlash for 'disrespectful' celebrations
Connor Bedard's goal-scoring ability throughout his first season has not went unnoticed, scoring the most out of any rookie and the most on the Chicago Blackhawks with 22 goals in 68 games.
Each of his goals came with electric celebrations, but according to an NHL veteran who's now retired: they need to stop.
NHL veteran Jakub Voracek spent 15-years in the league and has now turned his knowledge in the game into being a color analyst for Ceska Televize at this year's IIHF World Championship in Prague, which features several Blackhawks players.
Voracek is one of the analysts that got to see Bedard continue his hot streak in the goal scoring category on Sunday when Bedard buried his tournament tying goals.
Bedard kept his celebrations quiet, showing little to no emotion after scoring both his goals against Denmark, Voracek, who spent 15-years in the NHL was not a fan of it.
Voracek stated (on the broadcast) that he doesnt like Bedard's none smile during goal celebrations and its disrespect towards the opponent.
Voracek then took to Twitter further prove his point:
I said I don't like it.and to celebrate goal is normal.non celebration is more disrespectful the celebrate it.he is a f****** player though
Voracek is trying to state that Bedard's non-celebratory goals are disrespectful, because it portrays scoring that goal is like a walk in the park.
Being 18-years old, Bedard is truly humble and has proved that in each and every game as well as in post-game interviews. He is truly a veteran at heart in a rookies body, and Voracek has taken things out of context.
