Carcillo described in detail what an NHL player would endure as the season wears on, the pain to the body increases. He focused on how young players are unaware of how their bodies operate in these extreme conditions and as players age and become wiser to their physical state, they realize which muscles to work, what food to eat and how to deal with the daily pain that runs through the entire lineup.
He also describes how the playoffs become more intense for players and as players continue to ramp up their physicality against one another, injuries begin to creep in and sometimes severe injuries especially head injuries which Carcillo suffered during his time.
Carcillo's career spanned from 2006 through 2015 as he was drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2003, third round, 73rd overall. Standing at six feet 200 lbs, Carcillo was always viewed as the enforcer for the team he played for while factoring on the score sheet occasionally.
He had two stints with the Blackhawks as he has 2 Stanley cups to his name with the team, and he finished his career with the Blackhawks in 2015. He played 429 games Thomas scored 48 goals with 52 assists for 100 points and had 1233 penalty minutes.
