Former Chicago Blackhawks forward Dominik Kubalik ditches NHL dreams with latest move
Former Chicago Blackhawk Dominik Kubalik has found himself in a situation, where he had to return to Switzerland to continue to play professional hockey.
Kubalik was a 2013 NHL Draft pick, 191st overall, and had spent five seasons in the NHL between the Chicago Blackhawks, Detroit Red Wings, and Ottawa Senators.
Now will be playing with his old club in Switzerland, HC Ambri-Piotta. All in all, in 2020 Kubalik was one of the hotter prospects and was a Calder Trophy finalist.
Now he is looking like a bust, as he only played 353 games in the NHL, scoring 176 points( 93 G, 83 A).
The seventh-round pick originally arrived in Chicago via Los Angeles in 2019. He would join the Detroit Red Wings as a free agent in 2022 and would be part of the trade that would send Alex DeBrincat to the Red Wings in 2023.
Originally he played two seasons in the Swiss league, with HC Ambri-Piotta before arriving in the NHL with 84 points( 35 G, 49 A) in 75 games in the Swiss league.
