Forward Kirby Dach Gets Told To 'Shut Up' By Montreal Canadiens Beat Reporter
There's a point of contention in regard to one Habs player, that the local media that covers the Montreal Canadiens have begun to express. One former NHL forward Maxim Lapierre went on a podcast to voice his frustration with one Habs player.
That player is Kirby Dach who had a tough time getting started in the Canadiens lineup since his return. He's been vocal about his woes, as published in the Montreal Gazette.
"In terms of my game, it's frustrating offensively. I haven't been feeling what I normally can do out there. It just takes time."
Not only has he voiced his frustration with himself recently, but now the crowd in Montreal is unhappy with him too.
Dach has played 22 games for the Canadiens this season and his production has been lousy, a mere 8 points( 1 G, 7 A) as the Habs third-line center.
Former Habs forward Maxim Lapierre has had enough of Dach's "talk" and would lash out at the forward on Tony Marinaro's podcast.
"When I was a player, it frustrated me to hear people complain about the salaries of certain players, but today, I realize that these people were absolutely right.
There are single mothers, people who have families and who work 12 hours a day and they have difficulty feeding their children.
And then, you have players who show up with nice suits, nice cars and who earn $400,000 every two weeks... [...]
At the end of the day, you work 20 minutes (as an NHL player).
You work 20 minutes when you show up at the Bell Centre...
Can you at least skate, darling? And give body checks?
I don't care if you're tired on the ice or if you're not in good enough shape... Can you work, simon?
That's it! It's as simple as that! It's a privilege in life to be able to go to bed at night without having to worry about your finances or your health...
It's only young people who earn millions of dollars...
Shut up and skate!! Are you clear enough?"
- Maxim Lapierre
Lapierre, while seeming unreasonable in his in his attitude towards Dach is logical. Dach makes a massive amount of money weekly, and it's debatable whether he's playing with all of his effort on the ice.
His $400K salary every two weeks is more than some regular working people will ever make in a lifetime.
This is a wake-up call for Dach. Will he be able to answer it?
During his career Dach has played 234 games in the NHL, scoring only 107 points( 37 G, 74 A).
The ex-Blackhawks forward was drafted 3rd overall in 2019 and has yet to play up to his draft position.
