How these top 4 2025 NHL draft projections would fit into the Chicago Blackhawks lineup
As the Chicago Blackhawks are going through their rebuilding phase revolving around 19-year old phenom Connor Bedard, they are in the basement of the NHL and are projected to land the first overall draft pick at the 2025 NHL draft.
For the Blackhawks, selecting the right prospect will be crucial in shaping the organizations future, and it's all in the hands of general manager Kyle Davidson.
Thankfully for the Blackhawks, unlike last years draft class that was not too packed with elite talent, where they held the second overall pick, this years class holds four players that are projected to be elite NHL players in the future.
One question remains for the Blackhawks, who will they select at the 2025 NHL draft to support Connor Bedard?
Will the Blackhawks decide to bolster their blueline with prospect Matthew Schaefer, or add a gritty forward who brings a physical presence in Porter Martone? Aside from those two, there are plenty of other options, let's break them down.
Known as the top defenseman in the 2025 NHL draft, Schaefer is a pure-two-way defenseman who brings a game full of physicality and drive. The Blackhawks blueline is not looking too strong this season, could
Seth Jones leaving spark the Blackhawks to draft Schaefer?
A 6-foot-3, 207lb 18-year old who still has years to grow and mature could be a threat for the Blackhawks, and he brings a rare
Matthew Tkachuk-like power forward presence to his game, he could easily serve as a protector and top talent to 19-year old Connor Bedard for years to come.
Misa is known for his goal-scoring ability, he is a natural centerman, like Bedard, so he would provide depth for the Blackhawks on their second-line, and a possible threat to their top power-play unit alongside Connor Bedard.
Hagens is the projected first overall pick in the 2025 NHL draft, deemed by many insiders. I personally was able to experience Hagens live in person for preliminary and elimination games at the 2025 World Juniors in Ottawa, Ontario, and the amount of hockey IQ he holds, his teammates (that are already drafted to the NHL) could not keep up with his pace at times. Pairing him alongside Bedard would be an unstoppable two-way threat, i think the Blackhawks cannot pass up on Hagens if he is available.
Who would you select to join the Blackhawks and Bedard in their rebuilding process, in hopes to spark a new dynasty in Chicago?
