Formerly known as a 'disgraced' NHL forward to some, Edmonton Oilers forward Corey Perry, alongside the team's head coach Kris Knoblauch have called out the NHL in regards to the NHL suspending star forward Connor McDavid for three games

On Monday, the NHL Department of Player Safety came to a final verdict on Connor McDavid's cross-check on Vancouver Canucks' Connor Garland, in a game that took place on Saturday.

While the Oilers were in search to score the game-tying goal being down 3-2 within the final seconds, McDavid and his team were hungry, but Canucks forward Connor Garland tried to do his best job at distracting McDavid from tying the game, and let's just say, it certainly worked.

This lead to the NHL taking action, Connor McDavid suspended: NHL Player Safety issues a statement, and suspending McDavid for three games.

After the league's decision on suspending McDavid for three-games, multiple Edmonton Oilers have spoken out on the matter and are clearly unhappy.

Kris Knoblauch, the Oilers head coach, and forward Corey Perry, a former member of the Chicago Blackhawks, both opened up and didn't mince their words regarding how they felt about the leagues discipline to their star player.

Perry goes after NHL for not protecting their star player, including Oilers teammate Connor McDavid

"It's frustrating to watch when you're on his team because you see the abuse he takes. Anybody else in the league that stuff happens to, it's a penalty. But because he has the puck so much, (referees) don't want to call a penalty every time.

Why aren't we protecting the superstars? Why aren't we?. Every other league does it? They protect their superstars."

Kris Knoblauch followed Perry's statement by going into further depth about the amount of penalties McDavid draws, which is at a very low-point despite the amount of abuse he faces on a nightly basis.

"Connor plays through a lot. Ironically, he doesn't draw many penalties. Our team doesn't draw that many penalties for that matter, which is kind of ironic because we usually have the puck

You look around the NHL, if you're a team that doesn't take very many penalties, you usually don't get many powerplays He puts up with more than the average player."

This leaves many wondering if McDavid and the Oilers will appeal his three-game suspension, to get him back into the lineup earlier.
