Former Stanley Cup-winning forward Brandon Saad's time in St. Louis has come to an end according to NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman, where could he land?

Saad is a two-time Stanley Cup winner, with the 2013 and 2015 Chicago Blackhawks, and has provided services around the league, as a depth forward. He is long past his prime but still has a scoring touch teams could utilize.

While the veteran forward has a no-trade clause, he is working diligently with Doug Armstrong and St. Louis to facilitate a trade that works for both parties.

This season he's scored 10 points( 4 G, 6 A) in 30 games with the St. Louis Blues and last played on the 3rd line with Blues played Alexey Toropchenko, and Nathan Walker.

«I think Saad has been available for some time now. It got heightened attention because they scratched him on Saturday night,» Friedman said. «I think with Saad, even though he's got a full no-trade, the word out there was, don't assume he won't go places.

«That's what I heard. Because I think there are some places that he would go to that people may not consider.»

Where could a landing spot for Saad be? Perhaps a return to Chicago could take place!

The Chicago Blackhawks

The Chicago Blackhawks could be an ideal landing spot for Saad, being familiar with the organization is a plus. He won two Stanley Cups during the 2013 and 2015 seasons and is familiar with playing a two-way game on the ice.

Like Nick Foligno and Taylor Hall, he could be another NHL veteran who could offer Bedard new perspectives and be a mentor for the young superstar.

While Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane were catapulted from the organization in 2023, could he be a piece of the old guard that GM Kyle Davidson could find a use for?

Saad is in the fourth year of a five-year, $4.5 Million deal and according to reports, he's willing to waive it now.

Despite his contractual protection, Friedman's comments suggest that Saad is open to facilitating a move under the right circumstances, particularly to a destination where he can contribute immediately.

Could Brandon Saad be an excellent veteran forward to move the rebuild along into its next phase? Especially if some veterans weren't returning next season?

Would you welcome a "homecoming" for Saad?
