A recent article from Sportico revealed the valuations of each NHS organization and stated that the Chicago Blackhawks has lost some value in terms of their ranks amongst other NHL teams.

The article explains that the Blackhawks gained financial value as they rose 33% compared to the 2023 numbers which put them at $2.45 billion. This is news that will make the Wirtz family smile from ear to ear as they continue to work to maintain and grow the company after the recent loss of Rocky Wirtz.

On the flip side, the Blackhawks lost their position as the third ranked highest evaluated team and now sit 6th as the Boston Bruins and the Los Angeles Kings have rose significantly over the past year.

Over the past five to six years, the NHS has gone through several changes including the additions of the Seattle Kraken, the Vegas Golden Knights and now the recent sale of the Ottawa Senators, Tampa Bay Lightning and the relocation of the Arizona Coyotes operations to Salt Lake City. All these franchises continue to raise the value of the NHL as the league has set record numbers in profit and overall value.

This is leading the NHL to rid themselves of the flat cap and we'll see a continued rise of the salary cap which gives teams a more competitive edge towards star players and retaining them. The Blackhawks are one organization who's rebuilding, and these valuations will continue to push the salary cap up and give them a chance to keep many of their core players who are continuing to develop in their minor systems now.

In the meantime, the Blackhawks continue to try to sort out their team and find their identity while developing their players and using their draft picks to continue to bolster their depth.
